After playing a typically downbeat music set one night in 2009 Ben was pleasantly surprised to be approached by a promoter who told him he was perfect for an upcoming support slot. He was less pleased when it became clear he was being offered a stand up gig based on his rambling introductions to songs rather than a music one due to the strength and poignancy of his songwriting talent... Initially reluctant and somewhat miffed Ben decided to give it a go, thinking if it went really badly he could always just play a few songs and get off before anyone worked out that he was a complete fraud. In fact it went so well he was asked back and later performed again, this time with no guitar to hide behind, to an even better reception.
